St Marks Team up with Munster Rugby

Since the start of the academic year St Mark’s BNS have been engaged in a cohort of extra-curricular activities, the latest installment is a six week programme of rugby clinics that will enhance the boy’s knowledge of rugby and their physical literacy. Munster rugby were on hand to officially launch the rugby clinics and to make a presentation to the school. This latest programme has been facilitated by the school completion programme under the stewardship of a UCC Coach and post primary PE Teacher.

The day started off with a presentation of new rugby kit been made by Willie Schubert of Munster Rugby to Mags Coffey and Terry McCarthy from St Marks BNS. The boys were then put through their paces by Willie and Mr Geary from UCC and the SCP. The boys learned all about the core values of the game and what it takes to be a rugby player. There was a huge willingness on behalf of the boys to learn and they showed huge endeavour skill. The day finished off with a game of tag rugby which was enjoyed by all, the popcorn and chocolate provided by the school completion programme didn’t go amiss either. St Marks will continue their programme of Health Related Activity,

Science and Gentleman’s clubs to facilitate a healthy learning atmosphere in these formative years in the student’s life.
