About St Marks BNS

St. Mark's School has been serving the community of The Glen since 1975.  St. Mark's School is situated on the north-side of Cork City.  The area of The Glen, where the school is situated, was developed on a greenfield site by Cork Corporation and the government of the time led by, the then Taoiseach, Mr. Jack Lynch T.D, who officially opened the school on the 26th November 1977.

St Mark's is an all boys Catholic national school, with a keen focus on inclusion. Our new A.S.D. unit, Inis Geal was established in 2015 and we are looking forward to expanding it in September 2016. We have a strong tradition of performing Arts in the school and are currently the unbeaten Feis Maitiu Choral Verse and Mime Champions, six years running.  Soccer and Hurling are also favourites with the boys and they can be seen weekly down at the local Glen Resource Centre practising their skills.

We have been extremely fortunate to be part of the amazing Happy Talk speech and language programme for the past few years with a dedicated in school support service for parents, pupils and teachers in speech and language development. We are also one the schools involved in the UCC coordination development programme every year, which aids the development of the coordination skills of our Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First class boys.

There are many after school clubs available for our boys to partake in, Homework club, Science club, FAI soccer & Gentlemens club. We have numerous activities taking place throughout the day also, such as drumming and choir on Thursdays, drama on Mondays, hurling and tennis too, as well as many opportunities to take part in educational pursuits such as Scratch programming, visits to Blackrock Observatory and the Lifetime Lab and we have received our third Discovery Primary Science Award. The pupils have a great interest in gardening and the Glen Community Gardeners visit us regularly throughout the year to ensure our garden beds are ready for setting and harvesting our small batch of crops and encouraging us to learn more about our local environment.

All of this coupled with our amazing staff, fantastic pupils and extremely supportive parents make it  joy to be part of the St Mark's family. Explore our website and see the wonderful work we're all part of creating.

At St. Marks we always have events and occasions to educate and entertain our pupils and their parents. To see all our upcoming events and latest news just visit our News & Events page.
